Welcome to Portlandica,
where assets flow and companies grow…
Hi, I’m Jerry Murphey, the founder of Portlandica Investment Capital Advisors.
If you’re like a lot of companies, while building your core business, new products and services emerge. And, in many cases they have the potential for significant growth.
Unfortunately, most of these subsidiary business opportunities never reach their full potential, simply because founders and their teams are focused on growing their core business.
As far back as I can remember, I’ve been passionate about finding creative ways to maximize business growth. This has provided a gratifying career, launching over 50 financial related products, programs and companies netting over $7 billion in sales.
Today I help companies attract and allocate investment capital to identify, launch and scale new investments; achieve sustainable growth, and deliver stakeholder value at every opportunity. So founders and their teams can focus on growing their core business while, at the same time, adding new sources of revenue.
About Portlandica
To an ornithologist, Portlandica is the Arctic tern in its first year of plumage. To me, it symbolizes what it takes to successfully launch and scale any product, program or company. For instance, these small birds have one of the longest annual migrations of any animal on earth. Their flight patterns travel in every direction in search of the best weather and food on their journey from the Arctic Circle to the Antarctic Circle—a round-trip of about 30,000 kilometers (18,641 miles), and they are social birds, foraging in groups and nesting in colonies.
Similar to the Arctic tern, launching and scaling a business requires a clear marketing message that travels the distance to reach its audience; wide scale distribution to find opportunities in every direction; and the ability to grow and convert a community of active members at every opportunity.
The symbolic meaning of a small bird’s transformation from its first year of plumage to one of the furthest traveling animals on earth, speaks to the potential of future opportunities calling us to action as they unfold. Oh yeah… did I mention Portland,Oregon is my home, going on two decades? And investment capital advisor (ICA) is my vocation? So, Portland + ICA = Portlandica. Get it?
